Killeen Municipal Community GardenĀ
Established 1999, Killeen Municipal Community Garden (KMCG) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to “improve the lives of our culturally diverse community through garden-based education, environmental stewardship, regeneration of urban green spaces, and fostering cultural identity through healthy food access.” The KMCG is made up of four community gardens: Killeen Family, Killeen Main St., Young Neighborhood and Baylor.
Killeen Municipal Community Garden, Killeen, Texas, has a whopping 3 acres of home grown vegetables to provide fresh produce for their local food pantries and other community partners. The garden has grown, on average, 20,000 pounds of produce every year since opening in 1991. In 2017 alone, over 17,000 pounds of produce were harvested with 45,000 pounds of produce harvested in 2018. The garden is open to any Killeen resident, regardless of income, and is centrally located in downtown Killeen.
The Killeen Municipal Community Garden is located on the grounds of the Killeen Public Library at 1039 S. John Lynch, Killeen. The garden features 20 garden beds (160 square feet of garden space), and 30 fruit trees have been planted. The community garden is overseen by the Killeen Library Garden Committee, which meets at 6 p.m. on the third Thursday of every month at the Killeen Library. The garden is for Killeen residents only.

The Killeen Municipal Community Garden is located behind the Killeen Fire Department at 123 East Martin Luther King Blvd. The community garden is operated as a partnership with the Killeen Parks and Recreation Department and the Killeen Garden Club. Residents of all ages are encouraged to join the Killeen Municipal Community Garden.
