Casey Memorial Library 

 

The Casey Memorial Library of the US Army is a public library with a focus on current topics and research. The library is located within the Soldier Readiness Processing Center, Camp Bullis, Texas. It serves as a nexus between the civilian world and Metro Fort Hood.

The soldier readiness processing center focuses on personnel readiness, processing troops arriving at Fort Hood from around the world and ensuring they will be able to continue their service at the base after they return home. The SRC also supports training for other units stationed there.

Casey Memorial Library offers books, DVDs, CDs, and electronic resources that help soldiers acquire the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their careers or graduate from college or university programs. Fort Hood’s Casey Memorial Library is a resource for research, reference and public engagement. With nearly 400,000 items, the library is one of the largest military libraries in the world. The library offers access to periodical databases, government documents and other resources through its website.

The library’s mission is to establish a culture of lifelong learning that empowers our Soldiers and their families at Fort Hood to succeed in today’s dynamic marketplace. Casey Memorial Library serves as the hub for information literacy programs at Fort Hood: it organizes and provides access to books, electronic resources and online databases used by instructors in K-12 education; supports outreach programs with local schools; and manages digital collections that are available to researchers worldwide.

Fort Hood is home to the Army’s largest library and research complex, the Casey Library. It is also home to a beautiful gardens, the Fort Hood Heritage Gardens. Besides these wonderful recreational areas, there are several interesting things about Casey Library, Fort Hood you should know.

Fort Hood has five base libraries that service the Garrison Community: Branch Libraries, Family Support Centers and Family Resource Centers (FRC), Central Libraries, and Non-Duplexes. The Garrison Community refers to those military members and civilian employees who live on or near Fort Hood and not just those stationed at the installation. All of these base libraries serve as main points of entry for books and other materials.
