Temple is a city located in Bell County, Texas. It sites 9.1 miles northeast of Belton. It was founded in 1876. Temple is home to the Temple Independent School District and has a population of approximately 8,000 people. The city is also home to many small businesses, including restaurants and retail stores.

Temple is located at 31° 2’ 41” North and 97° 16’ 59” West. It has a total area of 24 square miles. The city lies on the Western edge of the Great Plains within the Llano Estacado region of Central Texas. Within this region are several other smaller towns and cities including: Llano, Burnet, Kyle, Junction, Killeen, and Caldwell. The town’s nickname is “The Friendly City”. There are about four churches for every resident in this town, as well as two high schools with over 1,500 students each.

Temple is part of the Fort Worth–Arlington metropolitan area, which had an estimated population of 652,514 as of July 1, 2012. Located south of Dallas and north of Waco, Temple has become a focal point for many people relocating from other regions of North Texas.
